Okaikwei Central MP Patrick Yaw Boamah is calling on the Black Stars to recapture the brilliance that propelled them to the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Despite Ghana’s impressive back-to-back victories in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Boamah believes the team has yet to hit the peak performance levels that once made the nation proud.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament during a session reacting to Ghana’s recent wins over Chad and Madagascar, he urged the squad to aim higher.
“We want our national team at the levels that took us to the last 8 in 2010. That is where we want our national team to be we encourage them to play better and to be at the level that will gladen the hearts of Ghanaians Mr Speaker,” Boamah said, as aired by Peace FM.
Ghana showcased their dominance with a 3-0 thrashing of Madagascar in Morocco, thanks to Thomas Partey’s strikes in the 11th and 53rd minutes, followed by Mohammed Kudus’ goal in the 58th. Earlier, they crushed Chad 5-0 in Accra.
With the qualifiers on hold until September, the players will now rejoin their clubs.
