Ghana and AS Monaco defender, Mohammed Salisu has sadly lost his father, who died on Monday in Kumasi.

Mr Mohammed Abdul Karim passed away on April 7, 2025, at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after a short illness.

The father of defender has since been buried, according to the Islamic customs.

Salisu is yet to release an official statement on the passing of his father and moments after the news broke, he deleted all photos from Instagram to indicate he is in the state of mourning.

The towering centre-back missed AS Monaco’s game against Stade de Brestois on Saturday as the French giants lost on the road.

Meanwhile, he is expected to take time off while he mourns his later father as Monaco prepares for the Marseille in the battle for second spot in France.

Salisu was in Ghana in March for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, helping Ghana to back-to-back victories in the games against Chad and Madagascar.
