Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will recommence the Bawku peace initiative at the Manhyia Palace today.

Already, some chiefs and leaders of the factions are in Kumasi for today’s meeting. It is not known whether the King deliberately fixed Valentine’s Day a day of love to start the peace process.

Close doors
The deliberations are likely to be held behind close doors due to the sensitivity of the matter. Official figures indicate that at least 53 persons have been killed in the dispute since September, 2024.

Mahama request
In January 2025, President John Dramani Mahama paid a visit to the Manhyia Palace to have discussion with Otumfuo on his mediation efforts in the Bawku affair.
