The vice presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has assured artisans of Suame Magazine in Kumasi that a Bawumia government will empower them with skills to handle electric vehicles.

He said currently, there are about 17,000 electric vehicles in Ghana, and with the government’s programme to import more electric buses, there is the need to build the capacities of the artisans to work on the vehicles.

Interacting with members of the Association of Garages in Suame on Thursday, November 28, as part of his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, Napo, as the vice presidential candidate is popularly known, noted that the group’s industry serves as a vital pillar of Ghana’s economy. “Magazine need to change the direction to meet the changing face of the auto industry. This is what the government is doing,” he stated.

It was in that context that Napo reiterated that, Ghanaians need Bawumia as President to continue to align the country with the digital era. “We don’t need somebody who will take the country back,” he added.

Bold reforms
He highlighted how a Bawumia presidency, will prioritize bold and transformative reforms to address longstanding challenges in their sector and beyond.

Key among these reforms will be the introduction of a world-class, citizen- and business-friendly tax administration system. “This system will unlock billions of cedis for reinvestment by the private sector, spurring economic growth and creating jobs,” he explained.

He added that a Bawumia government will also implement a Flat Tax Rate Policy for all importers. This reform will stabilize the cost of imported goods and bring much-needed predictability to the market.
“I am confident that these bold solutions resonate with you, the hardworking members of the Association of Garages. Your support is critical for national development, and I am optimistic you will vote massively for Dr Bawumia to lead Ghana into a prosperous future,“ Napo stated.
