Do you want continuous power supply or dumsor – Napo asks Ghanaians

The running mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as Napo has revealed that Ghanaians have enjoy stable power supply under President Akufo-Addo’s eight-year tenure compared to the dumsor situation experienced during former President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

Napo made these remarks while speaking to students at the Pantang Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Accra.

He encouraged the students to support the NPP in the upcoming December 7 elections by voting for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s current presidential candidate, to ensure the continuity.

He added that reliable power supply and other progress made under the NPP government is a testament that the party through Dr. Bawumia is ready to move the country forward.

Napo stated that the achievements of the Akufo-Addo administration in stabilising the energy sector stand as evidence to the party’s commitment to improving Ghana’s infrastructure and quality of life.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh highlighted the sharp contrast between the NPP’s accomplishments in the energy stability and the challenges faced under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government led by Mahama.

He indicated that the consistent power supply under the NPP has allowed Ghanaians to engage in educational, economic, and personal activities with fewer interruptions, benefiting citizens and businesses alike.

Napo critising the former administration, pointed out that, despite substantial increases in electricity tariffs, the NDC under Mahama failed to resolve the country’s power crisis, commonly referred to as ‘dumsor.’

He claimed that the NDC raised electricity tariffs by 50% during Mahama’s tenure, yet failed to improve energy reliability, leading to hardship for many Ghanaians.

Napo concluded by reinforcing the importance of a stable power supply for the nation’s growth and development.

He urged voters to consider the NPP’s track record in the energy sector as a compelling reason to retain the party in power, emphasising that the NPP’s leadership has brought tangible benefits to Ghanaians, which they can continue to rely on under Dr Bawumia’s leadership.

“Do you want ‘dumsor’ or ‘Kanea’? We have had ‘kanea’ in the eight years of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahammudu Bawumia. And there was ‘dum, dum, dum, dum’ in the four years of John Dramani Mahama.”
