Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed that his understanding of hardship stems from his own life experiences, having faced challenges in making a living.

He recounted his past roles as a taxi driver, cleaner, farm laborer, and day laborer, which have provided him with valuable insights into the struggles encountered by many Ghanaians.

During a recent interaction with members of the Creative Arts Sector, he responded to a question posed in Pidgin by Shatta Wale, emphasizing that his primary objective in politics is to create opportunities for everyone, especially those in difficult circumstances.

Dr. Bawumia also highlighted his commitment to aiding the underprivileged through his involvement with Lepers Aid Ghana, an NGO dedicated to supporting individuals affected by leprosy.

He shared that he often spends time with those marginalized by society, stating, “my heart dey the street,” which reflects his genuine concern for the everyday challenges faced by ordinary people.

Additionally, he pointed out that initiatives like the government’s Free Senior High School program were implemented to alleviate the financial strain on low-income families, ensuring that all Ghanaians have access to education.
