President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday, November 25, 2024, opened four new 40-bed district hospitals in the Ashanti Region.

These hospitals are situated in Drobonso (Sekyere Afram Plains District), Sabronum (Ahafo Ano South East District), Twedie (Atwima Kwanwoma District), and Suame (Suame Municipality).

A fifth hospital in Manso Nkwanta, located in the Amansie West District, has also been finished and will be inaugurated soon.

These hospitals are part of a national initiative started in 2020 to build 12 district hospitals and a polyclinic in the Ashanti, Eastern, Greater Accra, and Bono regions.

The project received funding of €71.5 million from Erste Group Bank AG and Česká Spořitelna a.s., and was carried out by VAMED Engineering GmbH from Austria.

Each hospital features a range of facilities, including Out-Patient Departments with consulting rooms, public health units, surgical theaters, maternity wards, and staff housing.

During the ceremony, President Akufo-Addo encouraged hospital staff and local communities to take good care of the facilities, highlighting the government’s dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure throughout the nation.
