Relief for Ghanaian passengers; E-Gate ready at KIA by end of 2024 – Bawumia assures

Ghanaians passengers arriving at the Kotoka International Airport ( KIA) will have a relief by the end of the year.

Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has indicated that by the end of 2024, passengers who arrive at the KIA will not have to go to immigration officers because there is an going process to establish the Electronic Gate ( E-Gate) System.

The system will only require a Ghana card to access it and you are good to go. “In fact, before the end of this year 2024, if you arrive in Ghana at the Kotoka International Airport, you don’t need to go the immigration officers. We are putting together the E-Gate system. You just put in your Ghana Card and it just open for you,” he stated.

Assurance
Addressing party supporters in the Eastern Region on Thursday, August 22, Dr Bawumia assured that the E-Gate will come to full operation in Ghana before the end of the year. “The E-Gate will help verify passengers at the Airport without immigration assistance reducing time when checkin out at the Airport,” Dr Bawumia assured. He added: “ The system is currently going through a trial period. The future is now and it is possible.”
