Eric Dumenu Akatsi, the man who has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate over GHc100 million allegedly channeled into two bank accounts of Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) boss Sammy Gyamfi in the last four months, says his life in under threat.

Since filing the petition on May 11, 2025, Akatsi says he has received multiple threatening calls from unidentified individuals.

However, he insists these threats will not deter him. The petitioner said he has since reported the matter to the police for further action.

More trouble
The embattled Gyamfi, who is also the National Communications Officer of the NDC has found himself in deeper trouble as he faces fresh turmoil—this time over alleged millions funneled into his bank accounts.

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is also calling for a probe into the 36-year-old’s lavish lifestyle, citing suspicions of illicit wealth.

As Gyamfi awaits the outcome of the presidency’s investigation into his alleged distribution of dollar gifts to Evangelist Mama Pat, alias Agradaa, a private citizen, Akatsi, has petitioned CHRAJ to investigate the matter.

Petition
Akatsi’s petition, addressed to CHRAJ Commissioner Joseph Whittal, alleges that over GH¢100 million was suspiciously deposited into Gyamfi’s accounts at Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) within just four months of his appointment as GoldBod’s head. The petition references a viral video—reportedly filmed on May 10, 2025 showing Gyamfi flaunting U.S. dollars from his luxury Range Rover.

Akatsi described the act as “a clear indication of unexplained wealth.”

Private accounts
The petition further claims Gyamfi maintains two private CBG accounts—one in cedis, the other in U.S. dollars—holding a combined amount of over GHc100 million. “Prior to his current position, these accounts never saw such substantial inflows,” Akatsi stated.

“The sudden wealth, coupled with his public display of cash, points to suspected corruption.”

NPP’s accusations
At a press conference, the NPP accused Gyamfi of “ostentatious living” with National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye citing the 2025 Range Rover Autobiography valued at $350,000 he drove in on the day of the viral video. “His opulence raises serious questions,” Boakye argued” adding “We demand accountability.”
