The Liberia National Police has summoned several lawmakers of the House of Representatives in connection with an ongoing investigation into the fire that gutted the Capitol Building – the seat of the Liberian Legislature – in December 2024.

In a communication addressed to the Speaker of the House, Richard Koon, the police requested a “meeting with the Honorable Representatives identified as persons of interest.” Amongst those invited is former Speaker Fonati Koffa.

Speaker Koon, Koffa’s successor, mandated the House judiciary committee to accompany the lawmakers to the police station.
