Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has been celebrated as a ‘ Pillar of Peace’ at a glittering executive dinner ball in Kumasi, marking his 27th year on the Asante throne.

The “World-Meets-in-Ghana” Executive Dinner Ball, held on April 24, 2026, at the Manhyia Palace, brought together former presidents, international royalty, the diplomatic community, the Afrian diaspora, and business titans from far and near, under one royal canopy to honour the Asantehene’s legacy as a “Pillar of Peace”.

The high-profile event was organised by the E ON 3 Group in collaboration with Manhyia Palace, KGL Group, Diaspora Affairs Office of the Office of the President, the Commonwealth, Bank of Ghana, Multi Bank Group-Dubai, African Gold Market Association, Typhoon Greenfield, Ghana Link, Devprag Tokenization LLC – Dubai, Stratcon Energy, Ghana Gold Board, Gold Coast Refinery, Dawark Gold Refinery, Caveman, Popo-Global Investment, Access Bank Ghana PLC, Emirates Gold–DMCC, and Touch of Bronze.

Otumfuo talks peace
“Our experience tells us that no one can take the peace of the land for granted,” Otumfuo warned in an address.

The King condemned the adversarial nature of politics, saying it threatens to “override the instinct for civility and brotherliness,” while urging Ghanaians to create space for former heads of state to play advisory roles not as adversaries but as elder statesmen.

He further stressed that good governance, the rule of law, and a resilient economy are indispensable to sustaining national stability.

Presentations
At the heart of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious Otumfuo Commemorative Gold Medal. President John Dramani Mahama, former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia were among the distinguished honourees recognised for their contributions to peacebuilding and national cohesion.

Other recipients included Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, who also gave a speech as Special Guest of Honour, Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno; KGL Group Executive Chairman, Mr Alex Dadey; Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr Johnson Asiama, and business magnate Sir Sam Jonah.

Influence
The event also showcased Otumfuo’s enduring influence beyond Ghana’s borders. The Olu of Warri Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, and his wife, Olori Atuwatse III, graced the occasion as Royal Guests of Honour, underscoring the deep historical and cultural bonds between the traditional institutions of Ghana and Nigeria. In a message read on his behalf, President Mahama commended the Asantehene’s pivotal role in national peacebuilding, particularly his mediation , describing him as a “national asset whose influence transcends Asanteman”.

The event was held under the theme “Advancing Peace and Sustainable Economic Development Through Royal Vision,” highlighting the king’s unique ability to bridge traditional authority with modern economic diplomacy.
