African football leadership takes center stage in Cairo, Egypt, as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) hosts its 14th Extraordinary General Assembly on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

With the major decisions up for grabs, the session brings together key stakeholders, administrators, and football giants, setting the stage for the future of the continent’s football.

Among the events featured at the top of the page is the re-election of CAF President Patrice Motsepe. The South African tycoon, who took the body since 2021, is set to emerge a second time without competition.

His tenure has been marked by financial reforms, increased sponsorship, and efforts to market African football globally, thus his re-election largely sponsored throughout the continent.

There is also going to be a highly contested fight for the FIFA Council elections, and the African stake on the global football governing body will be determined.

With a list of senior-brass aspirants vying for a position, the election will be watched with held breath.

CAF Executive Committee elections will also take place, with the zonal unions playing a decisive role in determining the new hierarchy.

In West Africa, Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has already secured his seat as the WAFU Zone B representative, a reflection of his growing influence in African football administration.

As CAF’s top decision-makers meet in Cairo, the outcome of this meeting will shape African football’s future for years to come.
