The Manhyia South Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday, September 14, demonstrated their readiness to play a major role in shaping the 2024 election for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

A mammoth health walk , which saw the party’s running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, in attendance has further gingered the base of the constituency ahead of the general elections.

Dr Prempeh, a.k.a. Napo walked with thousands of party supporters for more than 3 hours before they converged at the Abbey’s Park where various speakers addressed the gathering.

Also in attendance was the Manhyia South constituency chairman of the NPP, Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta, popularly known as Tom Tom, who was the behind the walk; the parliamentary candidate , Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah; the Minister of Works and Housing and MP for Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye, among other party gurus.

Ashanti will not disappoint
Setting the tone for the addresses, Chairman Tom Tom indicated that the Ashanti Region cannot turn its back on the party in the upcoming general elections.

Making reference to the 2008 elections where voter apathy by NPP supporters in the party’s stronghold allowed the NDC to clinch victory, he said the region cannot go back to that unfortunate period.

He said the region benefitted so much from the President Kufuor government but when he was leaving office in 2008 after two terms in office, voter apathy on the part of their supporters caused the party’s defeat.

He promised that Manhyia South will stand solidly behind the party’s flagbearer, Dr Bawumia and the parliamentary candidate.

Free SHS
The Manhyia South constituency chairman stated that the nation cannot afford to hand over Free SHS, the most impactful social intervention initiative in the history of Ghana, to the NDC.

This is because the NDC has proven to be bad managers of the country. “The NPP needs to continue supervising Free SHS that is why we should vote massively for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to be the next President,” he stated.

Napo praises
Chairman Tom Tom praised Dr Prempeh for the able manner he handled the implementation of Free SHS, and also his impressive record at the Energy Ministry.

Impressive attendance
Chairman Tom Tom thanked the supporters for the massive turn out and urged them to go to every nook and cranny to spread the progressive message of the NPP. In doing that, he called for unity amongst party members in order to prosecute the elections on a united front.
