Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has chastised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for distancing itself from the Manhyia Palace after going into opposition. “I have been asking myself whether the NDC is at loggerheads with me after the party went into opposition,” Otumfuo stated.
Speaking when the party introduced its running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang to him at the Manhyia Palace on Friday, September 27, Otumfuo said the party leaders no longer visit him.
NAPO was brought
The Asantehene said even though the NDC running mate was chosen before Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, a.k.a. Napo was selected as NPP running mate, the governing party has long introduced Napo to him.
Otumfuo said he had cause to question former President John Mahama as to why the delay in introducing his running mate to him.
Elections
The Asantehene said Ghana is looking for development. He therefore called tor peace as the elections approach. Urging unity in the country, he prayed that the election results would be accepted by the winners and losers.
His Majesty stated that it is God who makes Kings and not human beings. “You will win or lose if it’s God’s wish “ he added.
