Ghana card: NIA new boss, Yayra Koku caught stealing Bawumia legacy

An attempt by the acting Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority ( NIA), Wisdom Kwaku Deku, a.k.a. Yayra Koku, to rubbish the strides made by the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government in the Ghana Card project has fallen flat.

Yayra Koku, a known NDC propagandist, who was appointed to the position by President John Dramani Mahama barely three weeks ago, claimed among other things that the NIA under his watch, is moving to link Ghana Card to MoMo and bank accounts.

Exposed
But, he was quickly exposed by some NPP members. Taking so social media, they reminded him that Ghana Card is already linked to MoMo, bank accounts, DVLA, NHIS, and SSNIT, among others.

Yayra’ s post
In a Facebook post, Yayra Koku stated:
1. Imagine linking your Ghana Card to your MoMo and bank accounts so you can pay for goods and services without knowing the vendor’s phone number or MoMo details.
2. Imagine your card goes missing, but you simply walk into a booth, pay, provide your fingerprint and your replacement card is printed on the spot without having to visit the NIA office and wait in a long queue.
3. Imagine using your Ghana Card as your driver’s license, eliminating the need to visit the DVLA for fingerprints—just present your card, and the integrated system will handle the rest.
4. Consider applying for a passport from the comfort of your home with your Ghana Card, then walking in to collect it or having it delivered via GhanaPost.
5. Envision booking your Ghana Card appointment online bypassing long queues, and completing the process from the comfort of your home. Submit your details, schedule an interview (online or in-person), and walk into any NIA office post-appointment for fingerprinting.
6. Think of linking your Ghana Card to toll booth apps for seamless payments as you pass through, or using it to access countless services effortlessly.
7. What about accessing NIA services after 5pm to cater for those who work from 8 to 5pm?
8. This and much more is what NIA envisions for the future in collaboration with partners and stakeholders. Together, we are creating a smarter, more convenient Ghana.Exciting times are ahead of us. Let us work together to create the Ghana that we want.We can do this. It is not rocket science.

Reactions
Reactions on social media have been swift with many condemning the NIA boss for attempting to steal the success of an NPP-led project championed by former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Among the comments on Facebook are:
1. The dishonesty of the NDC. Officials don’t know that our Ghana cards are already linked to our SIM Card, TIN numbers, momo accounts, bank accounts, SSNIT accounts, NHIS cards, passport numbers, DVLA records, etc? God bless Dr.Bawumia!
2. Yayra Koku and his boys are just empty. My Ghana Card is already linked to my Sim and my bank account. Herr these people.
3. We must let them know this before they (ndc) will claim all these initiatives!
